So the car was repaired and ready for pick up around noon on Wednesday. We got the trolley back to the car shop and the Trooper was ready to go.
Got quickly to Mississippi.....nice views, not great roads, okay, the views were just okay, but I wanted to like it because I know some great people from the state!
Made it all the way down Mississippi to Louisiana.
Driving into New Orleans, we were greeted by a rainbow.
Following the roads through land that looked swimmable
Checked into Prince Conti (thanks to a recommendation from Jason) and walked down Bourbon St
Grabbed some seafood at Oceana and stopped at the Sing Sing for great music
Next morning we decided this town was way to great to leave, so got a room for another night. Then we got Calla Cakes at the Old Coffeepot Cafe. During which we discovered that Pat doesn't really like breakfast, so next time he'll get coffee and I'll get my scrumptious first meal of the day. From there we walked down to the river, saw Cafe du Monde (where we bought beignets for later- fyi beignets don't keep for later). Then we found the trolley that took us out St. Charles Place for a view of so many lovely homes and neighborhoods. Returned to Bourbon St. and surrounding areas.
Such an awesome drum group
What? that ain't weird in New Orleans
That evening we walked up and down so many streets in the French Quarter, enjoying the beautiful architecture, the people watching, but wanted another week or six months to really scratch the surface! We had jalapenos stuffed with crab dipped in horseradish at Coops. Then we tried the charcuterie plate at Napoleon's and stopped into Johnny White's place.
oooh....a balcony
When in New Orleans, try a hurricane....just one. It's good. We had ours at Pat O'Brien's. It was tasty.
